Plan six to ten weeks ahead, choose the venue to match the conversation your team needs to have and build in an arrival evening before the first working day.

Most leadership teams come to Catalonia because something is stuck: a decision that keeps getting postponed, tension between founders or a plan the board has approved and nobody owns. The setting helps, but the planning choices below decide whether the team goes home with that resolved.

How far ahead should you book?

Six to ten weeks is the working rule. The best private estates are few, and a full buyout needs notice.

Shorter is possible in the city. For an urgent founder reset or a mediation after a funding round, a private space in Barcelona’s 22@ district can be arranged inside three weeks.

Which venue suits which conversation?

Pick the place for the work, then for the view. A city loft suits energy and product thinking. A secluded estate suits the conversations people avoid when they can still check their phones.

Setting From central Barcelona Best for What you get
City atelier or loft In the city (22@ Poblenou) Company offsites, product roadmap work, reunions of distributed teams Walkable district, Norrsken House for plenaries, dinner in El Born
Historic Catalan masia About one hour Co-founder resets and C-suite mediation Full private buyout, on-site chef, walking trails, no other guests
Penedès vineyard estate About 45 minutes Executive committees turning strategy into a plan Open-air meeting pavilion, cellar dining, vineyard walks in pairs

How many days do you need?

Two days work when the team already knows which bottleneck it has to clear. Expect two long closed-room sessions a day and a working dinner.

Three days is what most leadership teams choose. The extra day leaves room to rebuild trust as well as settle the plan, and the hardest conversation usually happens on the second morning.

Five days suit distributed leadership teams that want to combine company-wide direction with functional planning in the same week.

Who should be in the room?

Keep the group to the people who own the decisions. Two to six people for a founder or executive committee reset. Five to fourteen for a C-suite working on strategy and decision rights. Larger company offsites of 15 to 100 or more need a different design, with plenary sessions alternating with small working groups.

Above 20 participants, use two facilitators. One runs the main discussion while the other works with the breakout groups.

What about arrivals and jet lag?

Treat the arrival evening as part of the programme. People flying in from the US or the UK should transfer straight from Barcelona-El Prat to the venue, with time to rest and an informal dinner. Save the hard topics for nine o’clock the next morning.

What should you check at a rural venue?

A beautiful farmhouse can still fail a leadership team on the basics. Ask any venue about four things before you sign.

  • Connectivity: redundant fibre or a high-speed satellite link, so an urgent board call does not depend on one line.
  • Rooms: several separate spaces where a confidential conversation cannot be overheard.
  • Equipment: presentation screens and wireless microphones for full-group sessions.
  • Food: a kitchen that can cook to the same standard for vegan, coeliac and allergy needs, with good options for people who do not drink.

We check every estate we propose against this list.

How does pricing work?

Our offsites have two parts. A fixed advisory fee covers intake, agenda design, facilitation in the room and the review cadence afterwards. Hospitality, meaning the venue buyout, private dining, transfers and activities such as a sunset sail, is passed through at cost.

Most engagements land between €15,000 and €150,000, depending on the size of the group and the venue.

What should the team leave with?

One page. We call it the 90-day compact: a named owner for each strategic bet, what the team will stop doing to make room and the dates on which progress gets reviewed. If an offsite ends without it, the decisions tend to fade within a week.
